The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission appealed its loss against prediction markets platform Kalshi to the D.C. Appeals Court late Thursday.
A federal judge on Thursday told former FTX executive Ryan Salame that he could be hit with sanctions after Salame lied to the judge about prosecutors not making promises to him as part of his plea deal last year, CNBC reported.
The agency plans to appeal the case brought by the trading platform, and could still ask the higher court to stop the firm from listing the contracts.
Elections are not a form of “gaming,” so the agency should not have conducted a public review of Kalshi’s political prediction markets, the judge wrote.
The only crypto assets U.S. customers will be able to trade on the company’s platform are bitcoin, bitcoin cash and ether.
