The cryptocurrency market is expected to shift dramatically in the course of the second half of the year.
Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB) meme coins are already showing some early signs of a potential breakout, with the former bouncing back after successfully retesting a crucial support zone between $0.15 and $0.17 and the latter trading just below a key resistance level.
Adding to the bullish optimism, Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas estimates a 90% chance of Dogecoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), while the Shiba Inu is seeing record burn rates.
Trying to figure out which of the two assets has more potential this year, Finbold asked OpenAI’s ChatGPT for some insights.
DOGE analysis
At the time of publicationDOGE was trading at approximately $0.17, with a market cap of $26.13 billion.

ChatGPT noted that DOGE continues to benefit from strong recognition and sporadic boosts resulting from its relation to Elon Musk.
In addition, the artificial intelligence (AI) suggested a potential price range between $0.13 and $1.07 by the end of 2025, an up to 529% increase from the current price, but cautioned that the token lacks any new utility beyond meme status, being too reliant on social media hype.

Accordingly, ChatGPT concludes, DOGE is an attractive choice for more cautious investors seeking exposure to meme coins without excessive risk.
SHIB
Meanwhile, Shiba Inu was priced at $0.00001211 at press time, with a market cap of $7.14 billion.

As opposed to DOGE, ChatGPT continues, SHIB has been gaining additional utility via Shibarium Layer‑2 (L2) development and increasing token burn rates.
Nonetheless, the AI warns that the outlook is more mixed in this case, given that the token is more volatile and speculative than DOGE.
Therefore, ChatGPT reasons, its greater upside potential comes with increased risk, especially in scenarios involving supply issues and growing whale competition.
The verdict
Given the clear differences between the two cryptocurrencies, in particular their utility and status among other meme coins, ChatGPT concluded that DOGE is the safer bet.
After all, the coin enjoys lower volatility, solid recognition, and upside potential in line with broader crypto market moves.
However, the chat bot also added that SHIB could be the better option for more aggressive traders.
Indeed, SHIB may offer higher potential returns if Shibarium adoption and token burns generate further momentum, but it’s a riskier play, as more bearish scenarios could lead to stagnation or a dip.
