After a volatile start to 2025, mainly driven by trade tariff uncertainty, investors are still looking for assets with strong upside potential.
One area drawing attention is penny stocks. Often overlooked, these low-priced shares, typically under $5, offer a unique mix of risk and reward, making them appealing in uncertain markets.
With this in mind, the artificial intelligence model ChatGPT has assembled an “ideal penny stock portfolio” for the rest of 2025. The AI-curated list highlighted companies in fast-growing sectors like urban air mobility, solid-state EV batteries, and blockchain infrastructure.
Solid Power (NASDAQ: SLDP)
Solid Power (NASDAQ: SLDP) is leading the charge in next-gen battery technology. Based in Colorado, the company is developing solid-state batteries that promise higher energy density, faster charging, and improved safety over traditional lithium-ion options.
Backed by the auto giants Ford and BMW, Solid Power has already entered pilot production and plans to conduct full-scale testing later this year.
As demand for safer, more efficient EV batteries continues to climb, the company is well-positioned, though not without risk.
ChatGPT cautioned that Solid Power’s tech is still unproven at scale, and competitors like QuantumScape enjoy more visibility and deeper investor support.
As for the stock, SLDP closed at $1.56 in the last session, down 24% year to date. However, over the past month, it’s up more than 40%, signaling renewed investor interest.
Bitfarms (NASDAQ: BITF)
This year, the rebound in Bitcoin (BTC) prices has put crypto infrastructure stocks back in focus, and Bitfarms (NASDAQ: BITF) is one of the standouts.
Operating mostly from hydro-powered facilities in Canada and Paraguay, the company is targeting over 21 exahashes per second by year-end.
ChatGPT noted that if Bitcoin prices hold steady, Bitfarms could benefit from solid profit margins thanks to its energy-efficient operations.
Still, challenges remain: mining is capital-intensive, exposed to price volatility, and under increasing regulatory scrutiny, the stock could tumble.
Meanwhile, BITF stock is trading at $0.92, down 42% for the year. But since hitting a yearly low of $0.68 in April, it has surged more than 35%, showing signs of momentum.
In summary, ChatGPT’s penny stock portfolio is high-risk but holds strong potential. For bold investors, these picks offer exposure to emerging technologies poised for mainstream adoption.
