Polkadot and Kusama analytics make their way to Dune

Dune, a prominent data analysis platform, has integrated with Colorful Notion, introducing Polkadot’s (DOT) comprehensive analytics to the Dune ecosystem, according to the information shared with Finbold on March 19.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in bringing Polkadot and Kusama (KSM) relay chain data to Dune for the first time.

Dune users now have access to information from AssetHub for Polkadot, Astar, Bifrost, Hydradx, Interlay, and Centrifuge parachains, all within the Dune environment.

Making Polkadot more accessible

This collaboration not only expands the range of data available on Dune but also improves accessibility.

Robert Habermeier, Polkadot co-founder and a Polkadot Fellow, emphasized the importance of visualization in making complex technology like Polkadot more approachable, stating:

“Visualization is a key factor in making technology tangible to most people. This deep integration of Polkadot data into Dune is a key step which makes analysis and consequently usage of Polkadot much more accessible.”

Funded by the Polkadot OpenGov Referendum #366 passed in January, the integration effort spans Polkadot and Kusama system chains, as well as various parachains, for one year.

Colorful Notion, a third-party indexer with a solid track record in the Polkadot community, is developing dashboards for leading Polkadot parachains and projects.

Illuminating Web3

Sourabh Niyogi, Colorful Notion CEO and Co-Founder, emphasized his company’s commitment to illuminating the intricacies of the Polkadot and broader Web3 ecosystem through the partnership, stating:

“We are thrilled to bring the vibrant Polkadot ecosystem together with the Dune community. Our mission has always been to illuminate the intricacies of the Polkadot and broader Substrate and Web3 ecosystem, and this partnership is a testament to that commitment.”

– Sourabh Niyogi, Colorful Notion CEO and Co-Founder

Starting today, Dune users can explore Polkadot and Kusama relay chain data, along with data from six parachains, gaining insight into previously inaccessible on-chain activity.

Data is updated hourly, and there are plans to onboard the full complement of Polkadot parachains in the near future.

The value of the partnership

Fredrik Haga, Co-Founder & CEO of Dune, shared Niyogi’s enthusiasm, highlighting the increased demand for data on Dune and the value of this partnership in fulfilling that demand:

“There’s always been more demand for getting data on Dune than we can accommodate ourselves. This groundbreaking partnership with Colorful Notion brings not only Polkadot and Kusama data to Dune, but their deep understanding of that ecosystem. Our mission is to make crypto data accessible, and we’re thrilled to help the Polkadot ecosystem with that, together with Colorful Notion.”

– Fredrik Haga, Co-Founder & CEO of Dune

With an initial set of dashboards already available, Dune users can analyze and interpret activity within the Polkadot ecosystem.

As the partnership evolves and more data becomes available, analysts, developers, and data teams alike will be able to explore the Polkadot network with even more precision, facilitating informed decision-making and inspiring community engagement.
